Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) visa has five streams, including: Business Innovation Stream (188A), Investor Stream (188B), Significant Investor Stream (188C), Premium Investor Stream (188D), Entrepreneur stream (188E). This business visa is a four year and three month provisional visa, and visa holder might be eligible to apply for a subclass 888 visa (permanent residence) when you meet other additional requirements. 

The Business Innovation Stream and Investor Stream are point test system with 65 point threshold. The first three streams of subclass 188A, 188B and 188C visas are the most comment type of Business Visas.

Business Innovation Stream (188A) Visa

This business visa is for people with business skills who want to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government.

This visa allows you to:

  • it might let to a permanent residence (888) when certain requirements are meet.

This business investor visa is for people who want to make a designated investment of at least AU$1.5 million in an Australian state or territory and maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants must be nominated by a state or territory government.

Significant Investor Stream (188C) Visa

This SIV business visa is for people who are willing to invest at least AU$ 5 million into complying significant investments in Australia and want to maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Applicants can be nominated by a state or territory government or Austrade on behalf of the Australian government.

Eligibility

You must have a a genuine and realistic commitment to:

  • reside in the state or territory whose government agency nominated you,
  • continue your business and investment activity in Australia after the conclusion of your provisional visa,
  • live in Australia for at least 40 days per year (calculated cumulatively) for the duration of your provisional visa, or your spouse to live for at least 180 days per year (calculated cumulatively) for the duration of your provisional visa.
